OCR, or Optical Character Recognition, is the process of converting imaged characters into ‘readable’ characters that are immediately available to manipulate as text for searching and editing.

If you have forms that you’d like to have OCR’d, you can streamline the data entry process by scanning the forms and using our data capture software.

With OCR, you can automatically import the information into your accounting software, database, ERP and more.

Scandex Systems provides 2 types of OCR solutions with scanned images:

  • Conversion to Adobe Acrobat’s PDF files that are OCR’d for searching capabilities. To search these documents, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or greater, which is freely available from Adobe. This also keeps your documents secure and unmodifiable.
  • Using our sophisticated OCR conversion software, we are able to convert text on images to ASCII text files which can then be imported easily into other applications such as Word Processing. The algorithms used in this process are state-of-the-art, guaranteeing you the highest quality output available in the industry today.

Quality of Output

No OCR software is 100% accurate in the conversion process. Our OCR continually brings in results of 99% or better assuming the originals are excellent quality. The higher the quality of the original documents to be converted, the higher the success rate of the OCR conversion.
